Hello readers! There is an abundance of events to report on this week. Larger events include multiple Cinco de Mayo Celebrations, an AAPI show, Ethnic Food Fair at the "cottages", the FoodieLand Food Festival, and Gator by the Bay gets underway next weekend. Lots of great music to enjoy from Mariachi, to Indonesian Gamelan (and Wayang!), to multiple Indian Classical concerts, and bands and solo artists from Korea, Mexico, Scotland, and Jamaica! Also on the cultural menu are a soupçon of author talks and storytelling. There are a number of international films screening around town, and the French Film Festival is on the horizon. Both ballet and ballet folklorico performances will grace stages. Regency Girls at the Old Globe has been extended another week but wraps up next weekend, as does Bad Hombres, Good Wives at Palomar. All this—plus a bit more (like the International Youth Chess Tournament in Coronado!)—is here to capture your imagination, expand your cultural horizons, or perhaps even tickle your fancy. Go forth and explore!
A gentle reminder: Many local non-profits are facing unprecedented challenges that are, in many cases, severely impacting the services and programs they can offer. There is little reason to believe that this will be changing anytime soon. As such, there continues to be an urgent need to support local San Diego cross-cultural organizations (and other non-profits). Here's a list with links to organizations that could really use your support (in whatever way you can): San Diego Cross-Cultural Organizations. Again, if we missed any, let us know!
